Okay sooo i played through the game with several choices getting familiar with all the northern boys and enjoying what we have so far. I see many good things and some that somehow bug me.
Firstly i would like to express my admiration towards the whole project. :D It is very ambitious and i see immense potential in it. Obviously i would love this vn to be completed and i would love to experience the story it wants to tell.
The design of the characters, the background, the setting these are all brilliant in my opinion. Good atmosphere is key to a good vn and the way you set everything up instantly gives a very strong atmosphere. I am not sure yet what you will go for in terms of secondary genre, but you have a solid base for the mysterious, thrilling, maybe even the horroristic and psychotic directions.
This variety of potential outcomes is my biggest worry and one of the biggest selling points for me so far. I mean we just have to look at the cast of characters. It is impressiiive and while i want to know all of them i am worrying whether the creators will be able to handle the load. I sense that most of the characters have things to tell, that they are not empty shells with pretty visual design. Passion bleeds from them, passion of the creators, but just like Devon fears for Rune, i fear for the the passionate creators behind the ambitious project that they might spread themselves too thin. This might be an entirely irrational thought, but it has been in my head since i completed several routes.
Also as i have mentioned earlier there are a lot of different things going on here. I wont spoil anything for the potential readers, but there are some mysterious things happening in the game and while they bring a little bit of life and dynamism to the story, these effects feel momentary. Like something strange thrilling thing happens, the tone is set up well for the scene to work, everyone acts accordingly and then it just passes. The story goes back to a more chill slice of life tone for a while and then all of a sudden something unexpected happens again, but this time the event gives a much different vibe to the previous one. It almost feels disconnected, because the difference in tone is so different. That is why i wrote that this vn could turn out to be anything in terms of it's secondary genre (the primary being the romantic, slice of life of course) and i fear that because of the many different characters and many different sub-tones the story could lose focus.
This is again not a complaint really, because we are really early on in the story, it is only a worry of mine. There is so many ways to go forward from this diverse exposition that i just hope every piece will consistently click into place as the story goes on. As i mentioned the athmosphere is really strong, mainly because of the great descriptive writing, so thats why i think the sudden changes in tone hit me more, maybe only i experienced it this way though.
Also it is clear that there is passion for music in this vn and that reflects on the actual soundtrack and the scenes as well. I think there is a part where the mc even says that it is nice to listen to other people talk about their passion. I totally agree with that and based on my experiences i could expand it to: It is nice to read a vn that indirectly talks about the passion of the writer.
So yeah there wont be a major problem with the musical part, i am sure. There is one scene though where the mc is still on the bus and one tune is repeating very frequently. That one bugged me a little, but everything else was quality work. Plus when i heard that the one piano piece the mc knew was Gymnopédie No.1. i was so happy for some reason. I dont know it just fit very well into the scene and also i love Satie :P
I have never written a comment this long to any vn before. But thats just the testament to the fact that i feel huge potential in this and i want this vn to become one of the best on the site. It very well could become that. I'll be definitely following the journey and if the coming weeks are going favourably for me then i will definitely venture to patreon as well to show my affection in monetary ways too.
Hi! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed playing what's in the game so far, and took the time to leave us feedback.
I believe that when you mention the scene with a much different tone compared to the rest of the story you mean the one with Klaus - that's meant to be a sort of an easter egg and I plan to make it harder to get in one of the future builds.
You're right about the music in the bus scene, thank you about that! I added a second track there to change things up a bit. I would like to have more tracks in the vn, but I need to split my time between writing, managing the whole project and recording music for it, so I'm composing just a handful of tracks per update.
About the amount of routes, I'm taking this project very seriously and I'm aware of the scope. It will take a long time to complete, but I'm committed to finishing it (especially as it pays my bills currently!).
Updates are monthly, but we don't have a strict schedule, we rather release them when they're ready and announce them only a few days in advance. They're out for our patrons usually near the end of the month, and then released to the public 14 days later. The v0.6 build will go public on 10.01.2021.
hi!, it's me again, i thought i fixed the problem i had, but no, the thing is, sometimes i can run the game, but when i want to run it again it crashes and says that the game has stopped.
if you have any solution or any tip i wolud be grateful, thank you
You say in a while. Have you played so many VN's that there's none left? If you look on my profile you can find a list with exactly 222 furry VNs/games with probably more than 150 of them being VNs. I personally suggest Pervader, my currently favorite (Very plot driven, for now at least). However, When Stars Fall has a huge potential.
I just realized I haven't left a review of the new build!!
Rune was so friggin' cute, all shy and stuff about his hobbies! And seeing more of Lake's goofball-ish nature was great too. Mikko being all shocked about Lake getting in trouble and stuff and Lake is just like "I have no clue where you got an idea like that from."
I wasn't expecting to see Mikko's new look, but it's not bad; his new sprites are looking really good, in my opinion. And speaking of looking good, that new CG was just, *chef's kiss* beautiful! The aesthetic of this VN is really coming together since the first builds!
It's looking like we're on track to pick our route come the next update and I, for one, am very excited to pick Arvo's maybe-boyfriend! I also recall mention that the first NSFW scene is planned for build 0.6, so that's something else to look forward to in the next build. ;3c
The only real complaint I have is the same as I've had for a while now; with the exception of Devon, the shade of black used on the character sprites just comes off as being too dark. It looks less like the characters are wearing jackets and clothes (and in Rune's case, having antlers) and more like the shape of clothes (and antlers) was cut out in photoshop or something; there's no discernable detail in those parts of the sprites and - to me, at least - it doesn't look as good as it could. Using something lighter - like, closer in appearance to the darker parts of Devon's fur, maybe - that would allow us to see some degree of detail in those parts of the sprites would really help the issue, I think. But that's just me.
Either way, excellent work on the update, as always! I'm really enjoying my time with this game and I can't wait for the next update!
Okay, so Rune, Lake and Torulf are not at all like what I was expecting them to be and I am 100% down for that. So far all of the characters are very pleasant, and I'm just really looking forward to reading a much calmer Visual Novel than the last one I finished
I mean, it could make sense in a matter of "i wanted to have a way of having more time with MC" but character wise he doesn't seem like the kind of people who could lie to his old friend, still the fact MC refused to have a shared room with Mikko would make Mikko have an actual reason to do so, we'll probably discover about it later. But the hug isn't it for sure because if you sit with lake Mikko won't be able to hug you
Mikko could also have seen MC's keys falling at any point (either before, during or after the hug if you sit with him) and could have seen the perfect chance to take them, considering that:
-he's the only with an actually concrete motive
-he's the only that know MC well except for lake, the others would have given it to devon as they just met MC and so they wouldn't recognize his key
Edit: :0 Mikko hug you even if you don't sit with him, he does so before you loose your key, Mikko is getting some suspicious on him
finished my first time through the game yesterday, it's indeed very wholesome! The writing is very fluid and cute, the character sprites compliment the whole atmosphere beautifully and the music does it's job without being too much of a presence (which I would find annoying in a game about staying in a cabin in the middle of nature).
I mainly focused on Rune (I'm a sucker for jocks, and eventually jockstraps) and was surprised by the depth of his personality. All of the interactions with him felt natural and didn't feel like things were moving too fast (that is a problem I often find in these free to play visual novels, not here though!) Also appreciated that even though I focused on one character everyone else had a chance to shine.
The difference in art style from character sprite to CG illustration was kinda jarring at first, but it really isn't a problem, both styles are very good and similar enough. It was just surprising to see Rune go from very cute boy deer to hunky 20 something year old in the jacket scene, his biceps are appreciated though, and the illustrations themselves are drawn very well.
Last comment I have is about the general atmosphere of the game, which is lovely. As a foreigner, I lived in Denmark until I finished high school just last year and these Nordic vibes brought me right back. Of course Norway is way different, but the vibes are close enough. Mikko is actually SO similar to my old friend I had a crush on that I thought I was being pranked, the awkwardness between the protagonist and him is very relatable.
Overall, lovely game, with an equally lovely (and consistent, very important aspect of it) atmosphere and likable cast of characters. The artstyle is very polished and is well accompanied by the music, can't wait to see more, I think I'll be giving a bit of support on patreon as soon as I can :D
We're glad you enjoyed Dawn Chorus, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us ^^ I passed the feedback about the CGs to Tintiai, it made him very happy :3
Regarding the questions, we decided that Klaus won't have his own route, but he definitely will appear in the game again! About the time of the day, that's a feature I definitely would like to see in the game. Hopefully in January update ^^
I certainly would love to see that, however it's not as easy and cheap as it should be to get an album published there. It probably will happen at some point, but first I'd like to create more tracks and maybe polish what already is in there a bit more.
OK, I think I've said before that Mikko is my favorite since... I'm a sucker for Childhood friendship love... But is it me or did his species change? I dunno why but I think he was an otter last build... Maybe I'm just tripping, I love him regardless
Yep, Miko did change species, they mentioned it in the 0.5 changelog (I'm not entirely sure what from and what to, but I've never been good at guessing character species)
I really loved the new update! I'm really immersed into the story, and love the atmosphere in it! Mikko's new sprite is absolutely adorable, and all the CGs I found were very cute as well! I squealed a bit when I saw the CG with Arvo and Torulf, it's so freaking adorable-
I've been waiting for this moment since the first time I played DC five months ago. Finally I can choose Lake as my number 1. Oh, by the way, good cliffhanger, I'm intrigued, because, as you have said, 0.6 will content first NSFW scene. I doubt that it will be about Telescope and Uranus, but still, I'm looking forward for that moment.
Can't wait to see more of this game <3 Also i need to ask is Torulf muscular or not? His sprite looks like he's not but CG suggests he is. Keep up the good work <3
From what I've seen so far the game is a superb thing to play, I'm going to recommend it to some friends but first I would just like to ask, is there any NSFW content in it?
I cant wait to see more of this i haven't gone down every possible choice yet but lake is a fast favorite for me. I cant wait to see what this turns in to in the future!
Wait, isnt Devon the coach? I mean im all for our star to fall in love while he is on his trip, but with the coach? Miiiiight be slipping into dodgy territory if you head down that route. Just a thought - I love what you have done so far, I'd love to be able to produce something as polished as what you have done!
We're aware that it's a sensitive topic, but that's specifically why we wanted to tackle it. We're committed to do it in a tasteful way, but still, this will not be a route for everyone.
Lol, don't get me wrong, we will be playing every route to see what happens!!! I mean, you guys have done a fantastic job so far, so I am sure you will handle it well :)
So, I played the first 30 minutes of the visual novel and I can tell a lot of work has gone into this project. I really hope you guys continue on producing this kind of art because there isn't enough of this.
However, I feel like the introduction and the dialogue has some issues. The main character spends most of the introduction naval gazing and describing inconsequential scenery. He feels like a blank slate most of the time and his interactions with other people feel hollow. Furthermore, some of the other characters are introduced via montage, this is just straight up exposition.
Like I said, I can appreciate the amount of work that has gone into this project and I wish ya'll the best for this.
Hi! Thank you for comment, critique like that is much appreciated.
Could you tell me what do you mean when you say that MC's interactions feel hollow? I have a guess, but I'd like to be sure.
About a sizeable amount of descriptions of surroundings and introspection, I intended the game to have a slower, relaxed pace to reflect the peaceful setting and more introverted nature of Nordic people, and be more realistic/lifelike than an average furry visual novel. I've heard a lot of good feedback about it, but I understand that it might be off-putting for people who prefer more action.
I agree that introducing the characters via montage might feel forced. This was the case for two characters, so I could show events that happened before the camp. I haven't heard bad feedback about it yet, but I might try thinking of a better way of doing that in some future update.
By hollow, I mainly mean that nothing seems to be added by any of the interactions the MC has. Given, I haven't played through the whole vn yet, and I'm mostly speaking about the first thirty minutes to hour of gameplay. On the bus, the MC gives a whole exposition about his first noticing of Mikko in vivid detail, even though in a previous sentence, he remarks he "came to Norway to cut myself from it, not to keep thinking about it." The MC basically tells and doesn't show the audience that there is something troubling Mikko, and further interactions on the bus and at the lunch table don't provide much insight into that plot point- just his shyness which we already garnered from the MC's memories.
Furthermore, the interaction with Lake in the hallway is a little weird. Weird in the sense that the MC describes him as 'timid but intense', but reading his dialogue doesn't hint at any intensity. I'm not sure if this was sarcasm on the MC's part, but it just kinda left me confused. The interaction didn't hint at anything wrong, yet the MC reports that he looked 'taken aback', without any physical or other descriptors.
I feel like if the introduction to these characters weren't as heavily put into flashbacks, the interactions with the MC would feel more weighty because we would be shown the characters and not told. I'm noticing a trend in that a lot of the character's quirks or personality traits are just told to us and not expressed through dialogue or descriptions. The characters have their own wants and needs, like Mikko being shy and with something bothering him, or Lake with withholding a question, but the MC doesn't seem to want anything other than cute boys. Which, given by how goddamn cute they are is definitely a worthy goal. I really like Lake.
Thanks for being open to criticism, I really respect that you are willing to listen to feedback. Thanks again.
This is really helpful, thank you a lot for that! There's a lot I have to remember about when writing, and being a beginner I sometimes I forget about even the basic stuff and revert to overly simplistic style. You're definitely right, I tend to tell instead of showing and I have to remind myself more often to avoid that. I hope that I will have enough time to go through the beginning of the vn to correct that and possibly rewrite some parts for the December update (it will be a pretty important one!)
Hello! I'm having trouble finding where I can give this a five star rating! Can anyone please point me in the right direction? I feel so silly. I've rated one other work, but can't find the option again. 😅
I'm really happy with this update, I gotta say! Getting to see more of the cast interacting with each other was nice. And that spooky event with Klaus in the woods was really interesting to see. I stayed and got the feeling it was going somewhere... interesting, before Lake interrupted.
Also, just wanna say that Rune is such a sweetheart! And so is Lake! And Devon, too!! I'm torn for getting to choose only one of them at a time! They're all just so nice!
With the first day of the camp coming to a close, I'm really interested to see where the story goes from here! As well as how our relationships with the other characters are going to develop in the coming updates.
I don't really have much in the way of critique for this update- at least, not for this update specifically. I didn't notice much in the way of typos or glaring errors this time around, so that's good! The only thing I'd really think to bring up is that the black used on the character sprites - more accurately, the black used for Rune's antlers and any black clothing like his jacket or Jorgen's poncho - comes off as too dark. In most cases, it looks less like the characters are wearing dark clothes and more like someone put the images in photoshop and cut out the clothing; basically, you can't see any detail for anything colored black in the game, with the exception of Devon. If you want to use black for a character's clothing or other details, maybe it would be better to use a shade closer to the darker parts of Devon's fur? Maybe a little darker than that even? Dark enough that we can see they're meant to black, but not so dark that we can't see any actual detail. Just a thought.
Anyways, great work over all this time around! Keep up the good work!

I am EXCITED.
Me too ✨✨✨✨
hi, i been trying to play the game but i can't run it, i don't know why because i can run any other game without problem, any solution?
Hi! Can you give me your twitter/telegram/Discord username? I can try helping you over the chat.
hi!, thanks for answering, i already solve the problem with an internet page help, but thanks anyways, really liking the game so far, keep it up!
hi!, it's me again, i thought i fixed the problem i had, but no, the thing is, sometimes i can run the game, but when i want to run it again it crashes and says that the game has stopped.
if you have any solution or any tip i wolud be grateful, thank you
Could you post that Rune picture of the new update? The one where he's taking his shirt off, please?
I think you might mean this:

Alright, yall hear me out..
What if mikko took the key? while the player was hugging him he said this is a long hug, what if mikko took the key out of the players pocket?
If someone already made a comment about this then sorry TwT
I was actually thinking the same thing. Guess we will find out later on.
That's actually a good idea tbh
Really? Thanks Inekoto :>

The link to the current survey is: https://forms.gle/pQ5j9X1q8QzYqcAh6
If there was a link to Mikko's piano song, I would love to hear it!
Also this is such a good game.
Thank you ^^
That song you can find in the soundtrack here: https://buildingslikeradiators.bandcamp.com/track/red-scarf-mikko-at-the-piano
will the dawn chorus soundtrack be available on other streaming services like spotify/apple music at some point?
I certainly would love to see that, however it's not as easy and cheap as it should be to get an album published there. It probably will happen at some point, but first I'd like to create more tracks and maybe polish what already is in there a bit more.
Great game.

Yeah, I believe Mikko's species changed as well, considering his tail mostly, but I'm not entirely sure
And yeah I love piano too! Mikko's definitely one of my favourites-
Yep, Miko did change species, they mentioned it in the 0.5 changelog (I'm not entirely sure what from and what to, but I've never been good at guessing character species)
What animal is the mc?
Tiger I believe
Is the coach a love interest?
Yes!
Great update. Really loved.
However, there seems to be a problem with the survey as I get an error when I try to open it from the game.
Apparently some Google services are down at the moment, so the survey should be available after that gets resolved.
Latest update is fantastic! SO worth the wait!
I really loved the new update! I'm really immersed into the story, and love the atmosphere in it! Mikko's new sprite is absolutely adorable, and all the CGs I found were very cute as well! I squealed a bit when I saw the CG with Arvo and Torulf, it's so freaking adorable-

The end of the update ended on a friggin cliffhanger..
I can't say i'm mad because I love this game so i'm not mad just disappointed inhale and a little sad at the same time but…
I still love you very much..
Edit: I also really liked the new model for Mikko. Very cute 12/10
I am in love with this VN!!
The artstyle is amazing, the characters are all so adorable and I really like the story!
I can't wait to see more of this. Keep up the great work!
Have any of the routes been updated?
I've been waiting for this moment since the first time I played DC five months ago. Finally I can choose Lake as my number 1. Oh, by the way, good cliffhanger, I'm intrigued, because, as you have said, 0.6 will content first NSFW scene. I doubt that it will be about Telescope and Uranus, but still, I'm looking forward for that moment.
HhhhhHhhhh Just two more days for me and in dying out of excitement and me not being able to wait for the update
is it scheduled to update in 2 days?
one more dayyy
I can't waaaiiiiiit giiimmiiiiiie
Can't wait to see more of this game <3 Also i need to ask is Torulf muscular or not? His sprite looks like he's not but CG suggests he is. Keep up the good work <3
He's fit and he works out, but he isn't really muscular. His reworked sprite will reflect that better (once it gets drawn!)
Just a quick questio, will the future updates focus on one character, or will each month build have different characters update?
With the amount of routes we have it would be unreasonable to have updates focused only on one character.
nice
I worded things a bit harshly, but I am still available if you would like to contact me on Twitter @InvokingA
If Twitter doesn't work for you, I can drop my email or we can work something else out.
From what I've seen so far the game is a superb thing to play, I'm going to recommend it to some friends but first I would just like to ask, is there any NSFW content in it?
Hi! Not really at the moment, first upcoming nsfw scene is planned for the update v0.6. Since v0.5 there's a toggle to switch sfw mode in preferences.
And thank you :)
I cant wait to see more of this i haven't gone down every possible choice yet but lake is a fast favorite for me. I cant wait to see what this turns in to in the future!
How to get the picture of the other Tiger with the strawberry blonde hair cuddling with the protagonist on the couch?
If I remember correctly, when given the choice, go to the common room and choose to sit on the same couch as Torulf. You'll get that scene afterwards.
We don't want to promise anything yet, but our current plan is for Rune, Lake, Mikko, Torulf, Bjørn, Devon and Jørgen to have their own routes.
Wait, isnt Devon the coach? I mean im all for our star to fall in love while he is on his trip, but with the coach? Miiiiight be slipping into dodgy territory if you head down that route. Just a thought - I love what you have done so far, I'd love to be able to produce something as polished as what you have done!
they're in a college/university so I don't think it'd be anything illegal if that's what your worried about. That and Torulf is like 27 I think?
We're aware that it's a sensitive topic, but that's specifically why we wanted to tackle it. We're committed to do it in a tasteful way, but still, this will not be a route for everyone.
Lol, don't get me wrong, we will be playing every route to see what happens!!! I mean, you guys have done a fantastic job so far, so I am sure you will handle it well :)
Whats up,
So, I played the first 30 minutes of the visual novel and I can tell a lot of work has gone into this project.

Oh man, I wasn't expecting a reply back.
Which, given by how goddamn cute they are is definitely a worthy goal.I really like Lake.

Great VN. My favorites are Devon, Rune and Torulf. Can't wait to see more of their routes. Keep up the good work.
Oh my gosh. I got most interested in the coach cause i liked his eyes initially and then the character...and we're both from Ohio. Go figure. lol
