Like, I honestly thought he was pretty normal until I played through the ending of day 2 and day 3. I played with two "mini-routes", one where mc tells mikko he's jealous and the one where he tries to get mikko apologies from torulf, and playing through them kinda made me realize that I'm kind of wrong in the head for taking half of torulf's behavior as normal, and that he kind of gives me creeps. Like, I honestly want to keep playing his route but I'll keep going because Im truly interested in what ends up happening in the end of both mini-routes and what does he actually feels about that whole messed up situation with Lake and the mc
This is one of the reasons why the author is amazing... I think they kind of put you into Arvo's perspective so well that you don't really notice how isolated from your friends you've become until it's too late. You get pitted against Lake and against Mikko and against everyone because he wants to test how far you're willing to go for him.
Torulf is kind of toxic because he's driven on a base level by a desire for recognition due to—from my perspective at least—a lack of confidence in his own self worth. He seeks external validation to feel as though he means something. We see this in the way he preens in front of others, and his openly flirtatious attitude. We see this in his actions towards the MC and towards lake.
However his desire for external gratification melds with his fear of commitment and creates this really unhealthy balance of push and pull on people's feelings.
Look at Lake, for example. On the one hand, Torulf desires to be close to him physically and maybe even emotionally in some deep hidden way. He loves the attention and the compliments. He loves to be desired, but when the sex is over, and the cuddling is past... when the gradification ends... he's left empty again, and because he can't fill himself up with his own confidence and his own love, he goes out to seek it from others once again.
This creates a poisonous cycle of distancing himself and getting close and distancing himself and getting close. Hot and cold if you will.
If you haven't yet played Lakes route yet, I would do so. If I'm correct you get a glimpse into Torulfs mind near the end of the newest update. I shall leave it at that. Hopefully my ramblings make sense.
Torluf(and us by choosing his route) breaks Arvo on a fundamental level. We choose that Arvo "feels comfortable" with Torluf's flirting, but based on the little knowledge that we know ABOUT Arvo, his personality, and past, would he ACTUALLY be okay with it?
If we step out of our "We control the main character" point of view, and look at the situation through, say Lake's or Mikko's perspective, we would probably see some stranger changing your friend from Mikko's view, and a person who you seek validation from(Via compliments, contact, or sex,) pitting your friend against you from Lake's view.
The bathroom scene after the third NSFW scene shows Arvo(almost) realizing what's happening, and getting disgusted by himself and his actions(At least, that's how I interpret it.) He also confides in the ram lady who's name I forgot about it, and seeks advice from her.
It's also important to note that this doesn't happen in ANY other routes. Not after anything with Bjorn, not after anything with Rune, not after anything with Jorgen. It's only in TORLUF'S route. I may be copying what someone has already said, but the other routes bring out different parts of Arvo's personality, while Torluf's route changes Arvo into doing things that he probably wouldn't do on any other route.
I was doing the double refuse to sleep with Torulf route and I got this message right after entering the forest. Anyone has an idea of how to fix that? Or alternatively, tell me what happens after Arvo goes into the forest in that route? lol
Also I just played all the routes (I could play lol) for Torulf and I have to praise the writing because wow,,,,, I have never seen a character that embodied the concept of red flag as much as him lmaooo.
Like literally every part of him is insufferable (in a good way as a reader dw), and like his stingy ass and the bareback sex is like the cherry on top lmao.
Like this route feels like a cautionary tale it's so cathartic lol- like honestly 10/10 writing because never in my life have I wanted to reach out into my screen and strangle a character more than with that character lmaoooo.
I was team Kudzu all the way like he’s literally THE dream bf like storytime: my friend coerced me into playing the Leo route (that’s how I got introduced to the furry fandom lol) and I was bored outta my mind by Leo so I can’t properly express how much I was rooting for Chase x Kudzu to happen and the way I SCREAMED when they got together at the end 😭😭😭 and the funniest part is that my friend is a diehard Leo Stan and he was convinced that I would be one as well ahdjhzhejf 😭 Kudzu supremacy fr lmaooo
Honestly, I think Kudzu deserves better than Chase. Hell no, I think even Leo deserves better than him. Throughout the routes my opinion about Chase got lower and lower especially during Flynn's route. I do understand that he was possesed most of the game but still It doesn't change the fact that I don't like him as a character. Kudzu best boi tho
Chase DOES suck in some of the game, but that's somewhat to blame on the hum(the hysteria), somewhat to blame on Samuel(us), and somewhat to blame on Chase Himself. I'm pretty sure the hum "amplifies" the "Crazy" traits of someone, be it Leo's obsession with Chase as seen by The Embrace, or Jenna's craziness in the bad end of her route. I don't believe that Chase is blameless, but I do believe that he isn't entirely at fault. ..But then again, Leo causes Chase to lose his feet in the bad end, so Leo IS covered in red flags.
Torulf is... He reminds me of... Ehh... In my opinion, he's the only one that truly warps Arvo in a structural sense. The only one that...
Everyone in the story of course brings out sides of him, highlights needs, or opens him up to new possibilities about himself and about the world, but Torulf makes him into something he's not. Twists him up inside.
It reminds me too much of people I've met/interacted with before.
Overall though, just as everyone else in the story, he's a well written and believable character. He just hits a little to close to home in some ways.

i had a question concerning SPOILERS:
The Klaus route. First of all, this route is fantastic and by far my favorite!! I didn’t expect much and yet I was mindblown lol, I love when romance is combined with a horror aspect and the blend of dream-reality had me on my toes the whole time lol- and also, having not played the Mikko route yet, the Klaus route really builds up the tension of what happened between Mikko and Arvo and I can’t wait to find out what happened in the Mikko route.
Now for my question: seemingly, at the end of day 2, there’s a message from Klaus that says to meet him at the door on the right in the corridor that leads to the sauna. And then, it takes me back to the main screen.
Is there something for me to find out? I’ve tried replaying a few routes and try to go to the screen of that specific corridor and click on the door on the right but nothing seems to happen.
Is it yet to be implemented for a day 3 of that route or is it already implemented and must be found out? I got the idea that since the route seems to play with the notion of 4th wall breaks, it might be the latter.
Anyway, thank you for the game it’s just so cool I love it!!

To the entire team who made this, thank you. Seriously thank you. I went into this VN planning to spend a little bit of time with some cute characters, and my god these character designs are all are incredibly cute o_O... and ended up with about 4 hours disappearing without me even realising, sending me into the early hours of the morning.
The storytelling of each individual route (and I haven't even done all of them yet!) is uniquely beautiful for each character, summarising them in such distinct and compelling ways. The heartache, the adoration, naturally the romance... and the pure depth behind each story has just kept me coming back to this day after day.
This has stuck with me over the last few days so much more than I thought that it ever would, sending me back to those floaty feelings of is-he-isn't-he and student crushes that we all go through in our journeys, really leaving a longing back for those heady days.
As I mentioned before, each of the characters is just absolutely stunningly created both through their individual personalities and the absolutely wonderful, and as mentioned before, amazingly beautiful, character designs. Throughout each play-through I've done so far I've found myself reminded of those feelings I felt when back in the closet and seeing that beautiful guy walk past. From that incredible burly but soft Bjørn to the delicate alt-cool features of Jørgen, the scrappy scruffy lovable mane of Lake and that jock kid who's got a soft heart in Rune... Not to mention every last other character, I'd be here all day. Obviously, those NSFW scenes really get quite impressive too... like damn.
This is an incredible ramble but I just can't express how much more this VN has affected me than I thought the "let's have a look at this tonight" I went in with it. Seriously, it's a masterpiece and I can't wait for it to keep expanding.
As a Vietnamese who is self-considered a member of the Furry community, I truly plead for those pure artistic masterpieces like this Visual Novel to eliminate any bad prejudice against the community. We have Klace's visual novels (especially Winds of Change) as masterpieces of story and sound investment. And now we have this Dawn Chorus visual novel as a masterpiece of heart and brain touching. Playing this is definitely like watching a truly European-made movie. For the first time, I take so much effort to connect the dots, to dive deep into characters inner selves, to feel a hard feeling behind my chest, and to say, Wow, I am something of them, and they are something of me. I used to have a desire to write fanfiction, but Dawn Chorus is the pedal for me to type words. I just want to say thank you, and I'm waiting for more development, especially the three Arvo-Rune-Devon.

I’m asking because usually when you reach the end of an unfinished route there’s a message from the developer team and also this route seems to break the 4th wall (kinda) so I thought we had to dig deeper and find secrets to continue the route ahahah

No game I've played like this (A VN) has made me say, out loud "You can't do that to him!'' before the game even confirmed something happened. Wont spoil who or when. But damn why you gotta hurt my boy like that? It's rare for a game to actually hold my interest without me just skipping through most stuff. Very, Very Well Done. I Love The Feel Of This Visual Novel And It Makes Me Wish These Characters Were Real People So Much. Ill Be Following Dawn Chorus Closely And I It's Popularity Grows Even More. The Team Deserves It For Such A Nice Story.
I was not expecting this to be so fucking good! i think what really does it for me is how the characters seem to fall in clear archetypes but the novel explores those preconceived notions to their logical conclusions to make everything more realistic, playing with the reader's expectations and suspension of disbelief to achieve a very deep connection with the characters. it seems very thought out and the prose is very beautiful.
add to that the deep thoughts, the fact that the main character is an actual character instead of an empty void into which you project yourself, the sound design and it all adds up an experience that really sucks you in. also dudes' are hot!
really looking forward to seeing this story develop, especially curious as to how the Rune and Mikko routes are going to continue seeing as they seem to be careening towards an emotional climax both literally and figuratively lmao

I really like the VN It’s got a really nice story line and a really nice selection of characters Each route is really nice and very well thought of I really wanna support you guys but alas I don’t have that much to offer except for this comment Your VN is a really nice read and I’ve been reading it non stop repeatedly doing each route every time I really hope that this project can be finished The soundtrack is a really nice touch to it to I listen to it every night to fall asleep to Once again thank you for making this beautiful masterpiece and I wish you good health <3

Hello fellow Klaus route enjoyer lol, I had a question because I just finished (?) the Klaus route and I loved it sm and I’m also confused:

do you know if there’s hidden content after the ending where you read Klaus’s message and then it takes you to the main menu? I tried to click on the door on the right of the corridor of the sauna in a few other routes a few times but nothing seems to trigger anything lol
I’m asking because usually when you reach the end of an unfinished route there’s a message from the developer team and also this route seems to break the 4th wall (kinda) so I thought we had to dig deeper and find secrets to continue the route ahahah

No game I've played like this (A VN) has made me say, out loud "You can't do that to him!'' before the game even confirmed something happened. Wont spoil who or when. But damn why you gotta hurt my boy like that? It's rare for a game to actually hold my interest without me just skipping through most stuff. Found my self actually reading through multiple routes on this one which for me is rare to stay invested for one route let alone the three I've done so far. Love everything. Also, stop hurting my son he's trying his best...
We all know that we want them to be happy and so...but we also want the story to be more interesting. Let's hope they and mc can find a better future together!

Very, Very Well Done. I Love The Feel Of This Visual Novel And It Makes Me Wish These Characters Were Real People So Much. Ill Be Following Dawn Chorus Closely And I It's Popularity Grows Even More. The Team Deserves It For Such A Nice Story.
I was not expecting this to be so fucking good! i think what really does it for me is how the characters seem to fall in clear archetypes but the novel explores those preconceived notions to their logical conclusions to make everything more realistic, playing with the reader's expectations and suspension of disbelief to achieve a very deep connection with the characters. it seems very thought out and the prose is very beautiful.
add to that the deep thoughts, the fact that the main character is an actual character instead of an empty void into which you project yourself, the sound design and it all adds up an experience that really sucks you in. also dudes' are hot!
really looking forward to seeing this story develop, especially curious as to how the Rune and Mikko routes are going to continue seeing as they seem to be careening towards an emotional climax both literally and figuratively lmao
