Finally finished Devon's route. Got to admit, it certainly had a different flavour than what I thought it would be.
I love how each route has their own uniqueness, rather than one defined theme. Another thing I quite enjoyed was the largely written sections in Devon's route. I don't think some would share the same sentiment; but it's quite a refreshing breath of air that you were to remove the visual part in a visual novel for just a couple moments.

Love this VN but I've gotten weird UI issues on the newest version. I will say its been a few updates since I've updated, so it may not be the most recent update that caused the issue but the menu/skip/etc buttons are weirdly small, and the text is smaller than I remember but not that much an issue. Its mostly the skip button and stuff being very difficult to press on my phone, being exceedingly small and if this is intentional I would like a setting if possible to change this.

I haven't played this game since 2021, I'm happy that they added Legacy mode, I did't really like the new sprites, I find the old ones better and more expressive. I ran into a crash at the lobby scene after the power outage. In legacy mode activated, otherwise it doesn't crash. I'm really happy that it's still in development or that it wasn't abandoned.
It's very nice that you guys are reliably putting out updates for this to this day, I remember finding this game as a teenager and loving it. I really can't wait to see what you do with these guys, I won't forget any of them.

mikko route is a full emotional experience disguised as a furry visual novel. would recommend to anyone wanting to cry over some pngs on a screen. 11/10
Rune just has a cute aura to him. you look at him, and you can tell he's sweet. The best way I can describe it, If you made a bunch of other jock furry characters, and then put Rune next to them, he wouldn't fit in. He'd stand out. That's his whole thing.
Rune is his own person. He's uniquely kind and approachable, to the point where the way the MC describes him in the narration just does not match up with what you see. I feel like if i knew this person as a jock at school, I really wouldn't see him as larger than life and intimidating. Just look at him in this picture, does he look like he'd shove Mikko in a locker?
Rune looks like he goes to church with his grandma, and that's why people like him. He's too nice to be anxious around.
If you want me to be honest? I don't like the old sprites as much as the new ones, I think it may be nostalgia factor for a lot of people, and the new sprites for Lake and Bjorn are just so beautiful dude. That's my sincere opinion, I'm sorry, It's not like the old ones are ugly or something, they just look off when you compare it to the rest of the VN and the CG's, like they are different characters.
agreed, the new sprites feel a lot more mature, i cant imagine doing a route like mikko with his goofy old sprite starting at me although not to say the old ones were bad, they bring a lot of liveliness, but as the game got deeper the sprites were definitely in need of a change
Rune's getting a minor rework at the moment, we're going back to the front-facing head. I (Keo) personally share your feelings regarding him, but seeing the new designs, I think Haku has recaptured the magic of the previous sprite.
Weirdly I also had this error when I did the dogtooth route, while playing the macos version. I ended up using using the android version on my tablet which doesn't seem to have this issue.

This is the intro for Dawn Chorus, which I think this is future Arvo's writing. What I think I know is that these poems are canonically made by Arvo, which can be seen in Rune's Day 4 on the bus. However, if Arvo did write this before the science camp, Mikko's route would be the canon route (I don't actually believe this to be the case, there's lots of evidence saying otherwise).
There are two major symbols (I might be missing some), those being the eagle that Arvo took a picture of near the beginning of Day 1, and Saturn by the end of Day 1. The eagle, also being the main logo for Dawn Chorus (I think so, at least), commonly represents strength or courage. It could have a different meaning for the VN. I'm not too sure what it connects to yet, but all I've got is that when you sit with Lake on Day 1, they mention about not seeing much in it, and it being rather ominous. Saturn can either mean responsibility, or time. Time is the most likely, in my opinion. This circles back to the intro poem; 'One moment I share with you, the next moment we're almost strangers.' Everybody has their own lives, and sometimes, life gets in the way.
You can probably connect the dots by now. That being every character will eventually have to break up with Arvo in some shape or form. The first proper mention of this is Jørgen's update, being that he plans to move away eventually.
Hurt or to be hurt. I don't really have a comment on this, but it is a reoccurring theme in the characters. This might be in relation to the characters breaking up.

Mikko: My only theory is that either Arvo gets too scared to continue a relationship between him and Mikko, running away again, or they both can't sustain the relationship, and make a mutual agreement between the two so they leave peacefully.

Thank you for understanding and for giving such kind advice. I am someone with deep sensitivity, and every emotion feels both like the first time I have ever felt it and the last time I ever will.
In my past, I had a friend who was very close to me, or at least I believed so. I hope he felt the same. But one day he simply stopped replying to my messages. Every attempt I made to reach him was met with silence. Day by day he drifted further away. I searched for an answer to why, but I never found one.

I can understand and tell something, I was in the same page. Long time ago around my 13yrs, I fall in love to a closed friend of mine. Nowadays, that friendship just go away and never talk to him again, he is on my steam list, but is not the same person I knew before and the same for myself.
After that experience, I fall love again in to someone, wasn't the best, and then I do it again to other one! Was the worst experience I lived about love.
After all those experiences, I understand how to love myself and know me; this is something great to do, and finally i'm in a good relationship.
So, as you unloading on me, I can tell you something about love, friendship and life, If you're gonna love someone, do it with all emotions you have, but first you need to love your self. About friendship, It's the same as we try to find our similarities, all friends can be friends or even contacts only, but only you can decide who is your friend and who is your contact; and about life.. Life gets better, a strong man doesn't need to read the future, he makes his own. Equally, we don't need to forget we're not alone, even if we don't have no one near to us, we can find those people or live a lot for finding ourself.
I truly understand how you feel, yet I still find it hard to change anything within myself. I keep hoping that one day this will just be a passing chapter, not a permanent part of me.

Mikko is, pretty unique. It's something you can get in and feel cool and happy for Arvo and Mikko, but in the end, is something you can relate if you was in love with someone you never saw again in a long time.

TL:DR: The events of Dawn Chorus is actually a big flashback. Why? I'm not too sure. This one is a massive stretch, but with what is said, it's possible that any love interest that Arvo gets in is not actually permanent.
I was curious about the meaning of this VN, so after a little studying, I quickly realised that chance and time are big concepts in Dawn Chorus. Seeing Saturn will always occur, which also happens to symbolise time. Lets go through the opening intro:

As some people know, Arvo writes some poetry on his phone. You can see this near the end of Rune's day 4 where the both are on the bus returning from the city. And knowing that, I get the strong feeling that this was written either before the camp or after the camp.
"One moment I share with you, the next we're almost strangers." If Arvo written this before the camp, he could be referring to Mikko, but that only applies if Mikko's route is the canon ending, but I doubt that.

"We're all lost in this world, walking blindly in the dark, colliding with each other. Our lives are a series of random encounters that shape our cause."
"Are we swimming, or are we carried along by the currents?"
These quotes are said right after the intro, in Arvo's dream of winning the Nordic Street Photo Award. These refer to chance, and question whether if fate exists or not. On Lake's route, they question about reincarnation, a second chance, essentially. Jørgen responds with just being happy with your current life.
I'm still trying to get more info about all this, since I don't have a lot of evidence.
Lovely game, though I do have just one small complaint. I only played Rune's route so this may not be an issue with the others but the main character feels a bit too...predatorily forward I guess is the term? Just zero concept of personal space, constantly invites himself to other people's plans. And I feel like it's not very natural how Rune just goes along with all his advances, there would be alot of suspicion from his part early on realistically. I mean it'd be whatever if it was just another character, but I feel dirty playing as this guy.

my theories may be burnt – but i'm happier with this one:

Thank you for understanding and for giving such kind advice. I am someone with deep sensitivity, and every emotion feels both like the first time I have ever felt it and the last time I ever will.
In my past, I had a friend who was very close to me, or at least I believed so. I hope he felt the same. But one day he simply stopped replying to my messages. Every attempt I made to reach him was met with silence. Day by day he drifted further away. I searched for an answer to why, but I never found one.
And yet, even as I write this, I know that somewhere ahead, though I cannot see it now, there may be someone who will stay. And perhaps, just perhaps, the part of me that still dares to hope is the part that will save me.
I can understand and tell something, I was in the same page. Long time ago around my 13yrs, I fall in love to a closed friend of mine. Nowadays, that friendship just go away and never talk to him again, he is on my steam list, but is not the same person I knew before and the same for myself.
After that experience, I fall love again in to someone, wasn't the best, and then I do it again to other one! Was the worst experience I lived about love.
After all those experiences, I understand how to love myself and know me; this is something great to do, and finally i'm in a good relationship.
So, as you unloading on me, I can tell you something about love, friendship and life, If you're gonna love someone, do it with all emotions you have, but first you need to love your self. About friendship, It's the same as we try to find our similarities, all friends can be friends or even contacts only, but only you can decide who is your friend and who is your contact; and about life.. Life gets better, a strong man doesn't need to read the future, he makes his own. Equally, we don't need to forget we're not alone, even if we don't have no one near to us, we can find those people or live a lot for finding ourself.

Ngl but it's indeed sad, I decided to start with Mikko's route and after reading that I was pretty devastated, don't wanna spoil anything but if you want to go with Mikko's route you should prepare yourself psychologically, I haven't done all the routes yet but from what I've read so far I really wanna give a hug to all of them
Why not do a happier route like Lake's?
Mikko is, pretty unique. It's something you can get in and feel cool and happy for Arvo and Mikko, but in the end, is something you can relate if you was in love with someone you never saw again in a long time.

random food for thought. if you want to theorise yourself, don't look through this. Minor spoilers.
Do note that I am not 100% confident in this, so take this with a grain of salt. Reading back at this, this is NOT well written, holy.
TL:DR: The events of Dawn Chorus is actually a big flashback. Why? I'm not too sure. This one is a massive stretch, but with what is said, it's possible that any love interest that Arvo gets in is not actually permanent.
I was curious about the meaning of this VN, so after a little studying, I quickly realised that chance and time are big concepts in Dawn Chorus. Seeing Saturn will always occur, which also happens to symbolise time. Lets go through the opening intro:

As some people know, Arvo writes some poetry on his phone. You can see this near the end of Rune's day 4 where the both are on the bus returning from the city. And knowing that, I get the strong feeling that this was written either before the camp or after the camp.
"One moment I share with you, the next we're almost strangers." If Arvo written this before the camp, he could be referring to Mikko, but that only applies if Mikko's route is the canon ending, but I doubt that.

These quotes are said right after the intro, in Arvo's dream of winning the Nordic Street Photo Award. These refer to chance, and question whether if fate exists or not. On Lake's route, they question about reincarnation, a second chance, essentially. Jørgen responds with just being happy with your current life.
I'm still trying to get more info about all this, since I don't have a lot of evidence.
Since when did Guðrun get one of the mini character designs?
Lovely game, though I do have just one small complaint. I only played Rune's route so this may not be an issue with the others but the main character feels a bit too...predatorily forward I guess is the term? Just zero concept of personal space, constantly invites himself to other people's plans. And I feel like it's not very natural how Rune just goes along with all his advances, there would be alot of suspicion from his part early on realistically. I mean it'd be whatever if it was just another character, but I feel dirty playing as this guy.
